Japanese Cooking class in Christchurch, Kaiapoi

Incorporating New Zealand ingredients into Japanese cuisine based on the concept of “Home Cooking” enhances the depth of flavor and aroma by utilizing the umami of dashi broth.

By focusing on the visual appeal of the ingredients’ colors, shapes, and presentation in traditional Japanese tableware, one can enter a state of mindfulness. To begin the lesson, we recommend savoring Japanese tea slowly, which helps alleviate tension and stress, creating a relaxed state. We introduce familiar dishes such as Sushi, Fried chicken, Ramen, commonly enjoyed by Japanese individuals, catering to those who are not accustomed to Japanese cuisine.

Ritsuko (Christchurch, Kaiapoi)

I am Ritsuko ( Everyone call me ” Ritsy “)

I was born in 1970 in Fukuoka, Kyushu Japan and in 1995 I moved to Christchurch to start my beautiful family.I love to keep active by playing tennis and golf. During the years I have made lots of local friends through playing sports. For me cooking can be the same. It’s one of best ways to connect and share my passion for Japanese food. I am so happy to contribute my own country to spread the charm of Japanese cooking in NZ.
I want to provide a safe space for you in the comfort of my own home where I can demonstrate how cooking can be fun, a creative and introduce Japanese foods and culture outlet where you can relax.

I look forward to meeting you in my class!
